Getting Started
It is vital to your process of change that you put in the effort, work, and initiative. Therapy is not for everyone because it requires:
Constant Learning
Toleration of uncomfortable feelings
Interacting with painful emotions and memories
Active self-reflecting
Curiosity about yourself, your environment, your history, etc.
Courage to step into the unknown about yourself.
As a first step, it is important to educate yourself in the framework and concepts of your own psychology. You are a complex being! The brain is the only organ that is curious about itself! (Think about that for a minute.)
